Tuesdays at Kawa

Every Tuesday 6 to 9 PM at Kawa Espresso Bar (1333 8th Street SW), and last Tuesday was our first. Bukola Okedara and Ann Klettke and I came up with at least five ideas for the Tuesdays themselves: 1. Bring a friend. 2. Generate ideas for projects. 3. Tell us about a good book you’re reading. 4. Pick one item from recent world events (such as the school shootings) and share a published commentary about that event that you thought was very insightful. 5. Do on-the-spot art such as sketches with pen and paper.

The book we shared was The Happiness of Pursuit: Finding the Quest that Will Bring Purpose to Your Life by Chris Guillebeau. We connected the theme of the book to a quotation from Nietzsche, “He who has found a why to live for can bear almost any how.” From Ann we also heard about a good work of fiction, A Gentleman in Moscow.

Some very lively young people stopped by and joined us for a few minutes, boosting the energy and connecting us with their inspiring lives. We shared some of our own vision and work, including a project in Malawi that Ann’s husband Wayne has done and the My PALS (My Poetry and Life Skills) project that is one of Bukola’s projects in Calgary.

No one of us is as smart as all of us. We'll be there on Tuesday, building group genius.

Arthur
