Anya provided the following overview of the program for November 8:
Building A Culture of Peace in Our Communities
In the summer of 2022 Calgary Floating Lanterns brought the very first Building a Culture of Peace Month to Calgary. BCP Month ran from July 9th to August 9th and included a mix of virtual and in-person events. These included the “Building A Culture of Peaсe” poster exhibit at the Central Library, a virtual Peace Film Fest and an educational meeting all leading up to the annual Floating Lantern Peace Ceremony at Olympic Plaza. We wanted to impart to people that building a culture of peace starts with us, individuals, and that our actions have big consequences. We want to encourage and inspire people to look at what they are doing to create a culture of peace in their own lives. We are already working on next year’s BCP Month and hope to invite more people and organizations to participate.
On Tuesday, November 8th, please join us as we walk you through the “Building A Culture of Peace” poster exhibit and discuss how we can create a culture of peace in our community. At the end of the session, we invite you to share how you can create a culture of peace in your own life, in 100 words or less. With your permission we will include your words for our project: “A Thousand Voices of Light Creating A Culture of Peace” which you can see here: https://calgaryfloatinglanterns.com/1000-voices/
The goal is to use these entries to create an installation for the public to enjoy.
We hope to see you there!
