Tuesdays at Kawa and a Life Skills share

I’m writing short fiction these days to better appreciate the characters in the story of my life. I know them, but not quite. Instead of being actors in a variety of roles created by Shakespeare, they are real-life people, each creating a unique persona that even Shakespeare couldn't have imagined.

Guests at the life skills share on March 30 proved my point. One guest who arrived late confirmed that there was a halo of light surrounding my house at that very moment. She had passed time that day with a gorilla friend of hers, had received a last-minute invitation to dinner at 5, and so had come late to share her experience from the day, one that overwhelmed her with gratitude for the love of all living things. Another guest shared his life’s quest for an education, his Holy Grail, and the resilience he had learned that would surely have won him a place at the Round Table of Arthurian legend.

All the Social Capital Society events have the purpose of moving human history toward a healthy global community. Along the way, we can make Calgary a moveable feast, a place of rich cultural diversity and Gemütlichkeit. Tuesdays at Kawa are part of the quest.

Last Tuesday we heard a poem written that same afternoon specifically for the Kawa event, a poem inviting the reader to dance. We did pen and ink sketches, heard two short stories by Ernest Hemingway, and imagined possible team projects for the Social Transformation Tournament.

Tuesdays at Kawa are like a box of chocolates. We’ll be there nextTuesday April 3 from 6 to 9, 1333 8th Avenue SW. We'll develop our skill at thinking outside the box. Then inside the box. Both are essential life skills.

Arthur
