Tuesday is improvisational dialogue, Wednesday dialogue is on a topic chosen in advance. This coming Tuesday (6 to 9 PM) we will be at Kawa for our lastdialogue evening at that site. The following Tuesday we will be at the Second Cup Coffee Shop in Kensington across from Safeway and near the LRT. We recently found that Second Cup is a more suitable environment for our dialogues.
This coming Wednesday (6 to 9 PM) we will also be at Second Cup in Kensington. Vendome was closed last Wednesday and we just did a hop over to Second Cup for the event. The participants last Wednesday chose to keep the same topic for next Wednesday: Bouncing back from adversity. We learned quite a bit from each other and from an article published in the Harvard Business Review’s 10 Must-Reads On Mental Toughness, “How to Bounce Back from Adversity.”
Last Tuesday at Kawa we launched a new genre of fiction (the popcorn paragraph); learned a bit about findings from the Harvard longitudinal study of aging; looked at a list of complex mental activities recommended by Dean and Ayesha Sherzai for healthy brain aging; caught a glimpse of what’s happening in Turkey and how it is affecting people associated with the Gulen movement; heard a poem by Don Harris; met Ginette, a French teacher whose childhood was in Egypt; and heard from Marigold (eight years old) about her revised plans for becoming Prime Minister of Canada, based on neurophysiologic reasoning. The café dialogues will also become a new team project for the Social Transformation Tournament and you are invited to join the team.
