This coming Tuesday August 7 we’ll be at Second Cup in Kensington/Sunnyside, across from Safeway; and this comingWednesday August 8 at Vendome. The dialogues start at 6 PM.
The topic for Wednesday August 8 is Happiness and the Power of Self-image.
Last Tuesday was action-packed, as two men across the street appeared to be on the verge of a fight. One of our dialogue group (Rob) noticed and went across the street to start a dialogue with the two men. This seemed to produce good results. Not as good as our dialogue in the café but still better than whacking. Rob returned to our dialogue and we continued.
With Bukola facilitating, we drew pictures to represent what we thought the rest of our lives might look like. We talked about the importance of asking really good questions. The example of a good question we discussed was “How would you like your life five years from now to be different from how your life is today?” (Personally I’d like to be twice as good at asking really good questions five years from now as I am today.)
We heard Arthur’s new short story “Through the Green Fuse” and Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” and a little about what was happening one hundred years ago (July 1918).
Last Wednesday at Vendome we practiced the art of listening.
I hope your Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were good ones too.
Arthur
