This coming Tuesday August 14 we’ll be at Second Cup in Kensington / Sunnyside, across from Safeway; and on Wednesday August 15 at Vendome. The dialogues start at 6 PM.
For Wednesday August 15 each of us will present a topic on which we have done some research. The presentations will be limited to 5 minutes (or 10 minutes for Don, who talks slowly). What we present would then be used as a topic for discussion. Zoe introduced this approach as “rat school,” and she can tell you more about that concept. My topic for Wednesday will be global governance.
Last Tuesday, with Nyabuoy facilitating, we took a glance at the top 25 causes of serious car accidents (distracted driving being number one); some events of fifty years ago and why some consider 1968 a turning point in world history; and an overview of the difficult progress toward elimination of nuclear weapons.
Last Wednesday at Vendome we discussed the topic of happiness and self-image. There are some excellent YouTube presentations related to that topic. If you would like to receive the links to a couple of those videos I watched, just let me know.
The café dialogues are designed as a playing field for collaborative imagination. Think of it as a catalytic site for societal and cultural transformation. The world needs your genius at play, actively moving it toward a better future. Just imagine!
