Café dialogues in 2019 looking forward

There have been more than fifty café dialogues since we began last February. They’ve fostered group genius. They saw the invention of a new form of poetry (the zoku), a new form of prose (the popcorn paragraph), and a flash-fiction writing game. There’s been on-the-spot art and creative writing, discussion of various topics and sharing of books that participants are reading, empathic listening, and live readings of poetry and fiction, including newly written works, most recently “The List” and “Procrastination” at Second Cup last Tuesday. Then too there was the agora of new acquaintances.

Following foot surgery in January I’ll be less mobile. It will be wonderful if others continue the Tuesday (Second Cup) and Wednesday (Vendome) dialogues, but my own attendance would be sporadic.

Instead of that, I’ll connect individually with friends for the empathic listening sessions we launched in November. These have been one-on-one, by appointment only. The content is similar to that of the dialogues, with a bit more emphasis on empathic listening if either or both of the participants need someone to talk to because of recent stress.

If both of us are in agreement, I’ll let others know who might wish to join us. So I’ll be initiating occasional dialogues while I’m outfitted with cast and crutches (January and February), but it will be case by case and place by place. You’re invited to email or call me for such a dialogue especially if you can provide me with transportation to the dialogue spot.

Looking forward,

Arthur
