“I like to walk at my ease, and to stop when I like. A wandering life is what I want. To walk through a beautiful country in fine weather, without being obliged to hurry, and with a pleasant prospect at the end, is of all kinds of life the one most suited to my taste.” - Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) as quoted by Frédéric Gros, in (English translation) A Philosophy of Walking.

“Today, make sure you take a walk. And in the future, when you get stressed or overwhelmed, take a walk. When you have a tough problem to solve or a decision to make, take a walk. When you want to be creative, take a walk. When you need to get some air, take a walk. When you have a phone call to make, take a walk. When you need some exercise, take a long walk. When you have a meeting or a friend over, take a walk together.” - Ryan Holiday, The Daily Stoic

In an interview with Ryan Holiday, he mentions walking as one of three things that can help make your day rewarding.

What if you were being interviewed instead of Ryan Holiday, and the interviewer asked you this: What are three things you include in your own daily schedule in order to make the day (and your life) rewarding? How would you respond? That’s my “good question” for you for next Wednesday.

Another wonderful dialogue experience yesterday. Our group genius is growing week by week. I’ll suggest walking as a topic for next week, but as always, the choice is entirely up to you.

Here’s a short video on the importance of physical activity

and another short video on walking and mental health

and a four-minute video on health benefits of walking

As indicated above, you do your whole self good by walking.

Just for the fun of it, here’s a TED talk by a neuroscientist who studied effects of exercise on mental capacity

Toot sweet,
