“All of us have the potential to be more creative; we just need to learn the secrets of group genius.” – Keith Sawyer https://www.ideaconnection.com/interviews/00003-Group-Genius-Everyone-can-be-More-Creative-But.html
“If you do not express your own original ideas, if you do not listen to your own being, you will have betrayed yourself.” – Rollo May
“Idea generation is about quantity, not quality. Multiplication, not subtraction. Editing comes later. The goal of brainstorming is to walk out with buckets of ideas, not one precious idea perched on a pillow.” - Sam Harrison, Creative Zing! Spark Your Creativity and Powerfully Present Your Ideas
Our dialogue this Wednesday February 23 will be an open microphone event facilitated by Zenia and providing each of the participants with an opportunity to build their skills at inspiring an audience to innovative contributions of their own ideas.
Depending on the number of participants, you would have anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to take the lead. This can be a golden opportunity for each of you in more ways than one. I will give just two examples of how this open mic session might be put to good use.
A man of South Sudanese ancestry was killed in Calgary very recently.

How should we respond? Surely this deserves some very creative collaborative thinking. The open mic session this coming Wednesday can be used to generate ideas for how we can respond to this tragedy, both as individuals and as a dialogue network.
As another way to use the opportunity on Wednesday, this: I assume that each of you has a vision of something you would love to accomplish in the next few months. I’ll take the liberty of using Helen Ostrowski’s idea of creating a Trans-Canada Pathway to Peace. Helen might take the microphone and ask each of you to contribute at least one good idea for making her dream a reality.
Whatever your dream, if you were to use your open mic time on Wednesday to call for breakthrough ideas from the creative dialogue participants that would help make your dream a reality, you just might come away from the session with something so inspiring to you personally that you can’t resist trying out what you heard from one of the participants that night.
This will undoubtedly be an opportunity to make Calgary a better place to live. Here is the link provided by Shinobu:
