“As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Nelson Mandela
“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” - Carl Jung
“The better you know yourself, the better your relationship with the rest of the world.” - Toni Collette
Our dialogue tomorrow (Wednesday, July 14) is about defining who you are. In this animated video of “7 Life Lessons” from Albert Camus, there is an emphasis on the golden opportunity of creating the meaning of your own life.
If someone asked you, “Tell me a little about yourself,” how would you respond? How do you define yourself at this time of your life? How did you arrive at that definition? Please join us tomorrow at 6:30 PM to share your wisdom and experience and thus enrich our group genius. Here is the link provided by Shinobu:

Also tomorrow at our dialogue, we will hear from Helen Ostrowski about the breakthrough work she is doing. She will ask for your feedback.
By way of announcements, I should mention another event tomorrow, another great opportunity which unfortunately conflicts with our dialogue event. I learned about it from Saima Jamal. It is an open house at the Islamic centre in Calgary. Here is a link https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/mosque-open-house-tickets-162175062979
and I will cc this to Saima so that you can learn more about it from her. In future, we might consider holding one of our dialogue events there, and plan for it well in advance, assuming they would invite us for that connection with them.
Later today or at the latest tomorrow I will send you a separate email about a book, The Puzzle, that Naomi Terner is about to publish. It is very timely, and the two videos in her announcement are beautiful, so please take a look at that brilliant initiative when you receive my email about it. (Naomi and Mahendra and the children are currently at our new property in Oliver, British Columbia.)
Lastly, I have appended below two announcements from Shinobu related to very important events she has organized.
Calgary is indeed becoming a moveable feast and a microcosm of healthy global community.
Just keep walkin’!

The 9th Floating Lantern Peace Ceremony
August 7th (Sat.), 6:00 pm, 2021, at Olympic Plaza, Downtown Calgary
Rain or Shine
Facebook Live-streaming starts from 8 pm [MDT] (https://www.facebook.com/CalgaryLanterns/)
Come and experience the breathtaking beauty of lanterns on the Olympic Plaza pool. This is an annual peace event that shares a wish for a peaceful society and a world free from violence especially the ultimate violence of nuclear weapons.
This summer we will focus on the beauty and serenity of the floating lanterns on the water and peaceful background music. Also, we will launch The 1000 Lights Offering Boat in order to honor the lives lost during the pandemic and so many children’s lives lost during the time of the Residential Schools. In this event, we will share the sorrows with each other, then share the united resolution to create a safer, healthier, and happier society and world with each other.
Ms. Chantal Chagnon, our beloved friend and a indigenous singer, will offer songs for the lives lost during the ceremony.
Sponsored by Ploughshares Calgary and the City of Calgary in partnership with the United Nations Association in Canada-Calgary Branch and Calgary Interfaith Council
Your safety is our priority! Please stay home if you feel unwell, sanitize your hands often, and keep physical distance.
The live-streaming time may change. Please check on our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CalgaryLanterns/

3 films. 72 hours. $25 CAD. In support the Calgary Floating Lanterns Peace Ceremony
Enjoy watching three films that explore peace-making efforts in the world on three different fronts!
The Peace Film Fest is a fundraising endeavor to keep our summer peace event afloat for years to come. These 3 award winning films bring us hope and a sense of trust in humanity.
Like any other organization, we are facing difficulty to keep our peace event alive after longer than a year-long restrictions that have prohibited us to have the live in-person event.
Your $25 CAD donation will give you access to these three wonderful films for three days AND will help our peace event going. PLUS, with your donation, if you prefer, we will create a lantern that has your name and your loved one’s name on its shade.
