“A strong, respectful social network fosters a healthy sense of belonging. A community with a close-knit web of connections has a lower rate of heart disease. This is called the Roseto effect, named for a town in Pennsylvania that had an unusually low rate of heart disease. At the time Roseto was an Italian community with strong family ties and a long immigrant history. From 1954 to 1961, the men of Roseto had nearly no heart attacks. All other factors begin the same in nearby communities, Roseto’s good health was attributed to an active caring community.” - Mark Nepo, from his book More Together than Alone: Discovering the Power and Spirit of Community in Our Lives and in the World
Each day is a gift, and what you do with each day is historic. The “Big Picture” is always made of pixels, and we are the pixels.
November 18 is Margaret Atwood’s birthday, so we could take her level of creativity as our gold standard for team practice that day. We'll come up with new ways of thinking about self –transcendence. Off we go!
Here once again is the Zoom link provided by Shinobu for our team practice this Wednesday November 18 starting at 6:30 PM, and I have appended below this message a recently written poem from my poem quest.

Toot sweet,
Arthur
The mirror of my misery
became a window
and through that window I saw
the winter wind of suffering
at gale force blowing through the lives of others
and when I turned away
from that window
I felt the suffering of others
within myself.
